Shaw and Partners has dipped into Morgan Stanley Wealth Management’s ranks for the third time in less than six months.
Steve Triantafilidis, a fund manager-turned-adviser who has featured in Barron’s top-100 rankings, has agreed to move to Shaw and Partners.
Triantafilidis has 30-years of experience, and served as the chief investment officer of a Legg Mason affiliate in London before taking an advisory role at Morgan Stanley.
Triantafilidis will be joined by John Piper, a senior adviser and partner, who is leaving Morgan Stanley after 20-years. Five others – Matthew White, Scott Dawson, Andrew Frolow, Oliver Clarke and Kushal Punjabi – are headed down the same route. Sources said the senior advisory team oversees more than $750 million in assets and $5 million in recurring revenue.
Sources said Morgan Stanley’s WA, SA and Queensland wealth teams are expected to report into the Sydney office and bid farewell to regional leadership. As has been well documented, MSWM has sought to pivot its business towards ultra high-net-worth clients. The Rebecca Hill-led division now houses around 80 advisers, all of whom are focused on the bigger-ticket accounts.
Earl Evans-led Shaw and Partners has about 185 advisers managing $40 billion. EFG International, which is part owned by the Latsis Greek shipping family, bought a 51 per cent stake in the stockbroker in 2019 and has since built up to majority ownership.
