It was a great weekend of racing for the Shaw and Partners Erebus Motorsport team as Will Brown won his first ever Supercars Championship race in an action-packed sprint at Sydney Motorsport Park!
The team made magic in the final race of the day. Starting from the 4th on the grid, Will got a superb start and moved into third on the opening lap. Brodie, behind him, also moved up one spot to P6, though Nick Percat made sure the #99 driver had no space and ran him onto the gravel and back to P8.
Brodie pit at the end of lap 11 for two right-side tyres only, and Will came in the following lap with the team completing the fastest stop of the race with 2.7-seconds. Will used the clean air to his advantage and powered past Shane van Gisbergen as he re-joined the field, Will now the effective leader.
In the final laps of the race Will came under pressure from both Red Bulls though the rookie held them off as they collided into each other, trying to make an attack stick. Will crossed the line first, becoming the 13th youngest race winner in championship history and securing the team’s first win at Sydney. Behind him, Brodie drove well to secure a spot just outside the top ten in 11th.
The team now prepare for one last weekend in Sydney, with two 250-kilometre mini-marathons next weekend.
