For the second year running Shaw and Partners is participating in the Coolangatta Gold Ironman event, one of the most challenging endurance races in surf sports.
A team of four high calibre athletes will be competing in the relay race, representing Shaw and Partners. The team includes world champion ocean surf ski paddler and Shaw and Partners Race Team Member Cory Hill, and multi-ironman champion Shannon Eckstein. Nicknamed ‘The Professor’, Eckstein’s ability to read the ocean and rarely make a mistake has been what has seen him remain at the top of his game for two decades as well as claim 42 Australian gold medals.
The relay race incorporates a long course (41.8km) and a short course (21km) including ocean swim, board paddle, surf ski and soft sand run legs.
If the team can pull off a victory in the short and long course events over the weekend, the Shaw and Partners Foundation will donate $10,000 to the charity of their choice, the Albatross Nippers.
Albatross Nippers is a Gold Coast based nipper program for children with special needs. The program aims to promote beach awareness, community spirit and fun all within an inclusive surf lifesaving environment.
The Shaw and Partners Foundation adopts a long term view to corporate philanthropy by broadening the horizons of those less fortunate in our community. Since its inception in 2015, the Foundation has raised and donated over $2.5 million to charity.
We wish the team the best of luck for the race over the weekend.
