The king has reclaimed his crown!
Shaw and Partners brand ambassador Ali Day has proved once again why he is the Coolangatta Gold’s undisputed Greatest of All Time by winning his seventh title on Sunday ahead of Cory Taylor and 2019 champion, and Shaw and Partners brand ambassador, Matt Bevilacqua.
The gruelling iron event involves a 23km surf-ski leg, followed by a 650m beach run, a 3.5km swim, a 4km run, a 5.5km board leg and a final 10km run historically ending at Surfers Paradise. So dominant was Day’s victory he was able to soak up the home stretch with his son Danny in his arms.
Ali becomes the first man to win the Nutri-Grain Ironman Series, Aussies Ironman title and Coolangatta Gold in the same year, completing a stunning injury comeback that threatened to end his career.
Shaw and Partners extends a huge congratulations to Shaw and Partners brand ambassadors Danielle McKenzie and Georgia Miller who also made it to the podium behind Courtney Hancock, who becomes the first woman to win four titles.
At Shaw and Partners we are extremely proud to be associated with such great athletes, and wonderful people, and we wish them well ahead of the 20/21 Nutri-Grain Ironman and Ironwoman Series kicking off in the new year at North Bondi Beach.
