Shaw and Partners Foundation raises $5,000 for Fragile X Association 27 Feb 2017

On Sunday 26 February, the 2016/17 Australian Ocean Racing Series (AORS) concluded the season in Sydney with the Bridge to Beach race.

Over 600 paddlers lined up directly underneath the Sydney Harbour Bridge and paddled past the Sydney Opera House and the northern shores of Sydney Harbour on their way to the finish line at beautiful Manly Wharf.

Shaw and Partners was the main presenting sponsor of this year AORS, a national ocean racing series attracting competitors across a number of ocean racing disciplines.  Earlier this year Shaw and Partners was pleased to announce that it would continue to sponsor the Australian Ocean Racing Series in 2017/18.

The Bridge to Beach race organisers helped raise much needed funds for families affected by Fragile X, the most common known cause of intellectual disability and single gene cause of Autism.

The Shaw and Partners Foundation generously committed to match, dollar for dollar, any donations resulting from the event (up to a cap $5,000).

Shaw and Partners’ Co-CEO Earl Evans, who also had participated to the race, was delighted to hand over a cheque of $5,000 to the Fragile X Association at the presenting ceremony. A total of $10,000 was raised.

The Fragile X Association of Australia is a national not-for-profit organisation that aims to improve the health and well being of people affected by Fragile X and to provide support to them and their families.  Fragile X is a genetic condition that causes intellectual disability, behavioural and learning challenges and various physical characteristics.
