Shaw and Partners is celebrating the fifth anniversary of its charitable foundation in the only way a stockbroking firm knows how.

The Shaw and Partners Foundation launched its five-year birthday celebrations on Monday, and plans to raise up to $750,000 by Friday. The funds raised will be split between Shaws' six offices and the firm's operatives will then vote on which charities the money will be donated to.
The foundation – led by chairman and Shaw and Partners Co-head of Income Strategies Cameron Duncan – has donated more than $3 million to around 70 local charities in the past five years.
Established in 2015, its motto is "Have fun. Live life. Give back." and the majority of Shaws' employees make a monthly donation to it, which is matched dollar for dollar by the firm.
The birthday week also coincides with foundation day, which will see all the institutional brokerage generated on a day this week donated to charity.
In a note to staff at the end of last week, Shaw and Partners said the foundation remained "committed to supporting worthy charities that attract minimal, if any assistance from the government and without our support are not able to generate significant fundraising income of their own".
"We will continue to maintain a long term view to corporate philanthropy by broadening the horizons of those less fortunate in our community."
