Shaw and Partners Foundation donates $95,000 to charity in just one weekend Foundation08 May 2017

The weekend of 6-7 May 2017 is certainly one to remember for the Shaw and Partners Foundation.

Across three different events, Shaw and Partners staff and advisers, with the support of the Shaw and Partners Foundation raised and donated a cumulative total of $95,000 for charity. A monumental effort considering it was achieved just over a single weekend.

In Sydney, our staff attended the MS 24 Hour Mega Swimathon and the Cure for Brain Cancer Gala Ball and in Adelaide the JDRF One Ride.

The MS 24 Hour Mega Swim was a fun, team relay event where teams had a swimmer in the water for the entire 24 hours. Teams competed for laps swum and money raised, in support for people living with multiple sclerosis.

Shaw and Partners had an outstanding result placing 5th out of 47 teams. Our team of staff and advisers swum just over 75km in 24 hours, and raised $5,000 between them, with the Shaw and Partners Foundation generously matching this contribution dollar for dollar, rounding out a donation of over $10,000 to MS.

On Saturday evening, Shaw and Partners was the proud “Magical Sponsor” of the “Enchanted” Gala Ball, in support of the Cure Brain Cancer Foundation.

Professor Charlie Teo, the renowned neurosurgeon who founded the charity in 2001, was the guest speaker for the black-tie event, where attendees were asked to add a “touch of enchantment” to their outfits.  The star-studded evening was hosted by MC David Campbell and entertained by the renowned Jimmy Barnes.

During the evening Professor Charlie Teo personally came to the Shaw table of 10 to acknowledge and thank the Shaw and Partners Foundation for the ongoing contribution to the Cure for Brain Cancer Foundation.

In Adelaide, Shaw and Partners had a team of 16 riders take to the bike to tackle a gruelling 160km cycle in support of the JDRF Foundation.

The team wound through the Barossa Valley detouring along the way for the best cellar doors. Stuart McKinnon and the team raised a grand total of $75,236.60 superseding their fundraising target by a cool $50,000!
